About TBFL-BFN

Our history

  • The Triad Black Faith Leaders & Black Farmers Network officially became a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in the spring of 2024.
  • The mission of our organization is to fight and dismantle food insecurity and hunger in Guilford County and across the Piedmont region particularly in providing access to fresh and nutritious produce in marginalized neighborhoods lacking access to fresh food.
  • Our organization consists of eight faith-based organizations located in neighborhoods which have been labeled “food deserts” where access to grocery stores and health services are limited or nonexistent.
  • We are building a growing network of African American community gardeners, local and regional farmers in providing vegetables grown in their raised beds, urban farms and rural farms.

Our Goals

  • Develop a multi-county coalition of African American Faith Leaders to address hunger/food insecurity
  • Support and increase the number of African American Farmers
  • Use Faith-based assets to develop and expand community gardens
  • Use Faith-based assets to provide easily accessible fresh farm produce
  • Advocate for African American Farmers locally, statewide and nationally to address generational racism
  • Transform our neighborhoods into healthy and economically vibrant neighborhoods
